Bromley-by-Bow Station is a London Underground station on the District and Hammersmith and City lines, located in Bromley by Bow in east London. It is in both Zone 2 and Zone 3.
The station was opened as Bromley by the London Tilbury & Southend Railway in 1858. District Line service began in 1902, with the Hammersmith & City Line (then the Metropolitan Line) following in 1936. LTSR services were withdrawn in 1962. The station was renamed to Bromley-by-Bow in 1967, to prevent confusion with Bromley in the London Borough of Bromley.
The station has two platforms serving the tube lines in both directions; two more platforms formerly served the LTSR (now c2c) but are no longer in use. It is situated on the A102 Blackwall Tunnel northern approach. Devons Road station on the Docklands Light Railway is nearby, but this is not an official interchange.
Bromley-by-Bow station has been earmarked for expansion and redevelopment as part of London's bid for the 2012 Olympics.
In the television soap EastEnders, Bromley-by-Bow's place on the tube map is taken by the fictional Walford East station.
