Ashutosh Gowariker is an Indian film director and actor. His films include critically acclaimed Lagaan, released in 2002, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Other films incude Swades, released in 2004, which received mixed reviews by Indian critics, but is considered to be much more popular overseas.
